WiMAX, the successor of the WiFi wireless standard increasing the amount of information that cell phones and other devices are pulling from air. To elaborate the antenna technology, the WiMAX signals has a big drain on a mobile devices batteries.
WiMAX enables a great access of bandwidth than traditional cellular networks. It allows faster media and Internet downloading. WiMAX uses VoIP, which drop only few calls and keep on working up to 50 kilometers away from base stations, as compare to 16 kilometers for cellular networks and WiFi’s mere 100 meters.
The WiMAX signals carry 70 megabits of data per second which is more than three times the roughly 20 megabits from WiFi, and far outperforming the 300 kilobits on cellular networks.
The Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers is agreed on technical specifications for mobile WiMAX in 2005. Now Intel, Alcatel, and Qualcomm like companies are forcing to develop WiMAX-compliant base station and chipset technologies.
WiMAX equipment uses antenna technology called Multiple Input, Multiple Output that uses more than one antenna to collect and send information is large distances.
