As more and more cities of UK are going Wi-Fi every provider is blaming other providers that they are betraying the dream of free wireless access.
Wireless provider Cityspace has teamed up with the Government of Bristol to extend the 3km zone, which offers free Wi-Fi access to anyone in the area.
Westminster is also following BT’s plan for the 12 Wireless cities that were announced in May. The scheme has now extended and now it will feature Cisco equipment for Wireless CCTV Cameras that will cover an area of seven square miles and will provide feedback to the council workers on their mobile devices.
Another provider Cloud has taken the responsibility to unwire the city of London and the plan will provide commercial Wi-Fi access to the residents of the city.
All the above plans will need multiple providers to offer the service and excluding some hot spots the access will be commercial and paid. BT has commented that:
‘We don’t believe we’ll see free Wi-Fi except in places where councils have decided to spend large amounts of public money,”
