Approximately 200,000 people will make phone calls using Wi-Fi by the end of year 2006 in Taipei.
The ten companies are forcing ‘Taipei Easy Call’ in which mobile calls switch between Wi-Fi and the phone network. The Wi-Fi mobile phones will give an alternative to mobile calls.
The mobile calls switching also involves schools and government offices from the traditional phone networks by using internet phones, known as VoIP.
Hundreds of schools would be installed with an internet telephony system. Approximately 400,000 schoolchildren, parents and teachers would be encouraged to use this system.
