Symbian is offering Wi-Fi support to its native. They are releasing updated version 9.3 of the mobile operating system.



Symbian is offering Wi-Fi support by shifting from Windows 2000 to XP. They will provide improved version of Wi-Fi support, which can switch between GSM and home Wi-Fi connections.



This technology will give next step to BT Fusion project, which is using Bluetooth technology.



The other development is the shift from a proprietary tool chain to one based on the Eclipse open-source platform.



Symbian is providing a faster start-up times for phones and key applications, and faster synchronization for contacts



Symbian is the market leader in providing operating systems for smart-phones, its largest customer being Nokia.
