A law is being proposed in N.Y. county to outlaw the unsecured Wi-ficonnections. News.com reported
According to a new proposal being considered by a suburb of New York City, any business or home office with an open wireless connection but no separate server to fend off Internet attacks would be violating the law.
This law will stop all public wireless Internet access without a firewall on network gateway server. It will also force all business, including SOHO to install firwall equipped servers even if their WiFi connections is private or secured. Fines between $250-$500 will be imposed on violation of the law.
The proposed law faced mixed reactions. But in my opinion it will definately help people in securing their personal and confidential information. Identity fraud and data theft is a serious issue and unsecured connection were just an open invitations to hackers and thiefs.
