The project of a new hospital IT system was the winner of the Public Sector Project of the Year award. Telindus bagged the award for its integration of Wi-Fi at the Royal Hospitals Group, Belfast.



The healthcare trust has 6,800 staff members with the NHS Modernization Agency is the first in introducing a wireless project on large scale in UK.



Royal Hospitals wanted a stable, reliable and secure wireless solution for its material management system. Telindus proposed a plan for secure mobility installation, based on Trapeze Networks’ WLAN equipment. It allows the Royal Hospitals Group securelyto manage the material system centrally and efficiently.



The integration of location-technology Ekahau WiFi tags allows the staff to locate people and assets in real-time and more efficient manner. This tag features an emergency alert to both patients and staff members with instant distress signal.



The RH group is also making a plan of ‘bed head’ prescription solution, by which doctors can post prescription through their PCs.



The staff is using PDAs from which they can access information from anywhere in the ward. The hospital is deploying a new voice communication system named Vocera. It is not only integrated with Royal’s new IP Telephony system but also with external sites.
