
The Australian mobile service provider ‘OPTUS’ is launching PC cards to support broadband wireless data cards in Australia. Under the given agreement Option N.V. will provide the GlobeTrotter FUSION QUAD and the GlobeTrotter 3G QUAD PC cards to the Australian cell services provider Optus. The wireless data cards of Globe Trotter are sold under ‘yes ‘Optus brand.
The functionality of these cards is that within the range of WiFi, WLAN it is aid to provide smoothen connectivity up to 54 Mbps.
When within range of a public WiFi hotspot, corporate wireless LAN or home wireless network the GlobeTrotter FUSION QUAD, with integrated WLAN/Wi-Fi functionality, provides connection at speeds up to 54 Mbps.
The areas where 3G or WiFi are unavailable both the GlobeTrotter FUSION QUAD and the GlobeTrotter 3G QUAD will rely on the GPRS service.
This is bound to be a run in the market as, Optus’ has held up almost one third of the total GSM mobile market in Australia.
