Mobile behemoth Nokia has been preferred to provide mobile services for free Wi-Fi networks in New York City parks.
Presently, Wi-Fi networks being installed in ten major parks in New York that includes -
1. Battery Park,
2. Corona Flushing Meadows,
3. Union Square,
4. Washington Square and
5. Eight locations in Central Park.
NY-based firm WiFi Salon owns and manages the network. The New York Department of Parks and Recreation has given excessive concession rights to WiFi Salon for this project.
Nokia’s part will be to introduce mobile multimedia services in the parks in collaboration with the local media partners during the summer.
Users will need a Nokia phone with built in wireless LAN capabilities like the Nokia N80 and N91 or the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet to use this serive.
