With the continuing expansion of its Wi-Fi services, Nintendo has roped in 1 million users for its Wi-Fi-enabled Nintendo DS.

On top of that, more than 27 million connections logged since the service launched last November.

The figures have been boosted by a continuing global increase in the availability of the company’s public access Wi-Fi ‘hotspots’. Currently, Europe alone has more than 20,000 hotspots located in nearly all areas that can be labeled as public areas like airports, coffee shops, bars, hotels and a range of additional venues.
