CSIRO has claimed that it has developed Multi-Gigabit wireless technology that is much fast and efficient that any other available means of wireless data transfer.

The researchers associated with the project will demonstrate a six Gigabit link in Sydney this week.

CSIRO is utilizing the millimeter-wave spectrum above 55GHz, which makes high speed wireless data transfer possible.

Data speeds can reach the speeds of 10Gbps or more possible. This speed will be at least a hundred times faster than any other methods of WLANs.

To illustrate this speed CSIRO claims that the entire works of Shakespeare can be transmitted over a 1Gbps link in four-hundredths of a second and a full DVD movie can be transmitted without any quality loss in just 34 seconds.

In the demonstration that will be held in Sydney CSIRO officials will transmit 16 simultaneous streams of DVD-quality video over a 250-metre link with no loss of quality or delays during the demonstration and still it will only use one tenth of the capacity of the link.
