Wi-Fi that is the heart of technologies like Routers and PC Cards can head towards an early grave. According to Airgo chief executive Greg Raleigh Wi-Fi is dead as a standalone technology.
Airgo has helped the development of the latest generation Wi-Fi technology 802.11n that will hit the markets in late 2007.
Raleigh says that the technology will not be able to exist as an independent technology in the coming years however it will succeed if integrated with other technologies such as WWAN and WLAN. He commented that in the years to come technologies like WWAN will be dominant and there will be no place for simple Wi-Fi.
Some Wi-Fi companies have already integrated their products with some additional capabilities. Broadcom has surrounded the technology with Bluetooth, Gigabit Ethernet and some other wired and wireless networking technologies.
Raleigh also commented that he sees the Wi-Fi technology rolled into a combination of cellular technologies. Another independent analyst believes that Intel will pull Wi-Fi into becoming a distribution mechanism for WiMAX.
Moreover users always want that the technologies that they are presently using should not remain the same and should constantly improve.
In the field of technology there is always some room for improvement lets wait and watch where does this technology end up!
