Intel has clarified that the new 802.11n Centrino chips will not sport channel bonding if they run on the 2.4GHz spectrum. It involves using two channels in the WiFi spectrum to enable higher data transmission rather than a single channel that is being used by the existing WiFi technologies. Intel’s next-gen 802.11n WiFi chips will only peddle channel bonding in the 5GHz spectrum to avert intervention with older options of the wireless technology.
Other than Intel, a number of companies like notebook makers Asus, Acer, Gateway and Toshiba, and network equipment vendors Belkin, Buffalo, D-Link and Netgear are set to roll out products featuring 802.11n standard.
