Four Firms Selected for California Wireless Train Trials The four vendors are willing to try to stick high-speed wireless service on moving trains.

The transportation authority is running a 171-mile long train from Sacramento to San Jose. The authority is looking for companies who will give different ideas on this trail.

Out of 11 companies, the four companies are interested in this proposal.

The four companies are:

1. Concourse Communications, which is also known for dual cell/Wi-Fi installation in airports and it is recently purchased by Boingo Wireless
2. EarthLink
3. Nomad Digital, which is operating a WiMax-based service on a Brighton to London line in England
4. ATCI, the head of a consortium which access the bidirectional satellite

These companies will test the various networks including e-mail, web browsing, and corporate VPN access and bandwidth intensive functions.

No company is excluding from bidding on the project in its RFP stage.
