FCC has given its stamp to the first WiMax wireless broadband laptop PC card being offered by Clearwire and will be available in the market by the end of the year. This card can fit into a standard Type II laptop card slot and can be used along with Windows XP and Vista operating systems. The card functions on WiMax network of Clearwire. The FCC approval is expected to push the use of WiMax by broadening the customer base.

The WiMax technology is expected to replace Wi-Fi with its quicker wireless internet service and wide range. The card will be available for sale in the second half of the year. Broadband Internet signals from WiMax base stations can be sent quite far off than the Wi-Fi signals and the signals from the base station can travel as far as four km. Surely this card would be a huge success when they it is launched in the market.
