Earthlink has announced that it has signed an agreement with The City of Milpitas CA, located in Silicon Valley. Under this deal the telecom provider will build a 6.5-square-mile Wi-Fi mesh network in the city. The network will provide affordable and high speed internet access to the city residents as well visitors. Earthlink has off-late bagged a similar contract to build Wi-Fi mesh network in Philadelphia and San Francisco in partnering with Google.
Earthlink will resell its services to other service providers with a speed up to 1.54 megabytes per second.
Donald Berryman, executive vice president of EarthLink and president says, “EarthLink’s wireless broadband network will help reinforce the City of Milpitas’ claim to be the ‘Crossroads of Silicon Valley.”
