Talk about multimedia players and the thing that usually strikes our mind is a way to connect our computers to TVs and that too without getting any unsightly cables in the way.
For the same purpose D-Link is shipping its latest and the most advanced MediaLounge Player, DSM-510.
The device is a compact player that can deliver media from our PCs and other media storage devices over a home network to our TV screens via a wired or 802.11 g/b wireless connection.
You can also use the player to stream HD content using wired network connection.
The key factor of the device is that it has received Intel Viiv technology certification.
The device can easily be configured using the Windows Media connect application and the remote control that ships along with the device allows use to easily operate the device.
The DSM-510 has built in connectors for a wide range of products that includes HDMI connector, composite audio and video outputs and Optical Digital Audio with a support for 5.1 Channel Audio.
The device will set you back by $239.99. But believe me its value for money.

I really hope, that this unit really works with MPEG2 and MPEG4 video. I have been using long time DSM-320 with my TwonkyMedia media server (loo more: http://jacksgadgets.blogspot.com/ ). Music plays OK, but video is lagging behind. I know, that there is mess with video compression standards, but still?
