Australia’s national science agency recently demonstrated a new wireless technology that can transfer data at a faster rate than gigabit Ethernet. The team successfully transmitted 16 streams of 480p video over a single 6Gbps link at the same time at a distinct frequency of 85GHz. The frequency is distinct as it is rarely used for any other application but being a higher frequency it has a disadvantage that it cannot be used for long distance data transfer.

This wireless technology has an advantage that it can transmit data at exceptionally high speed without loss of any information or any signal deterioration. This advantage will make it useful to replace the wired links at the places where laying of expensive optical fiber cables is difficult.
