Nripendra Mishra, Chairman of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, announced that now Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited or BSNL will function as an interconnect exchange to improve connectivity between various telecom operators and reduce congestion in Kolkata. This was announced in one meeting, organized by the Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Private operators in the telecom sector to address complaints from consumers will create a national level ombudsman.
According to him, there is need of adopting new technologies to link between the urban and rural areas. The tele-density in rural areas are only 4 per cent, as compared to 37 per cent in urban areas. TRAI will contribute in both of areas and make neutral approach to technology.
